Going 4X4 Part 1.3

Well after a 5 hour endeavor with Dan and lots of greasy fingers and cursing(I think that the cars like verbal abuse LOL) I now have the Tahoe axles in place. I still have some detail stuff to take care of, like hooking up the P-brake lines and some wiring that needs repaired but currently the S-10 is up and running and I have engaged the 4X4 package to insure that things are working properly.


Next up is either an RV or Tow Camper.

Looking but I don't have the funds yet so I don't see that happening anytime soon. My boss is running low on funds and hours are getting cut.(yet one more way the 'stimulus' is stimulating me.) I am the only person getting hours at this moment due to my transportation status and the fact that I provide my own tools. ON THAT NOTE: I am noting parallels to Ayn Rands book "Atlas shrugged". Many people in the service industry just not caring that much anymore. Attitudes and pessimism abound. People aren't giving like they would if the returns were better. There isn't any one thing I can really put my finger on to illustrate this but I feel it daily. Every once in awhile you run across a shining star that hasn't been infected with the poison yet and your day is lit up for a short time. Yet for the most part there is a growing illness in this country. Like guys expecting work but not investing in the tools to do the job. Or working at such a pace to draw out the work indefinitely instead of doing a bangup job and getting kudos for it towards the next piece of work. Even I have noted that this poison is affecting me in some ways. I have the hardest time working with anyone from this area anymore. My boss has gone out of his way to give me solo projects because I hammer them out quick with minimal fuss(usually over materials but thats another story.) and he knows that the work is done right. I have been bouncing around to his many different properties doing maintenance stuff and security improvements because he knows that I won't dicker with the tenants and the job is done when I am packing up my tools, not dragged out to the next day. In some ways this is a positive since I know that he will keep coming back to me with work. In others though it hurts me since I am getting things done so timely that I am not getting a full week out of what he has. I guess its better to have some work and struggle than no work and begging.

Can't wait to get that trailer and get out of this dying town.

Itching to get to a range too. It has been a few weeks since I shot something.

Goin Mobile.

Been having fun today exercising an old skill. I needed more space in my truck box and have been having issues working with my cartools while they are kept in there. That is the dilemma that inspired me to build a new 'roadcase'.


I used to build roadcases for my audio equipment so that I could take it out on the road with me without damage. This is a very simple roadcase that I made today but it gave me about 3 cubic feet of space in my truckbox for more carpentry tools AND makes it much easier to access the tools for working on the truck without having to completely unload EVERYTIME. Yeah me!


OH and Van Jones Resigned today. Major score for the conservatives. Thats one avowed communist out of the White house, now we need to work on getting the rest of the Socialists/progressives/Liberals out. The media is playing it off as too much pressure but not truly disclosing the facts (like we expected them to be truthful, HAHAHAHAHA!) Still this is a win for us. There are many more to go and MAYBE just maybe we can get this taken care of BEFORE we have to start shooting.

GUNSHOW!!!!! WOOT!

Made a trip to a gunshow today in Dayton instead of a range trip. Good stuff to be had for all and the ammo prices there are much easier to swallow than the ones that happen here in Cincy. (to the tune of 25% higher here on common stuff)

Managed to find some honest to God Mosin Nagant Stripper clips and should have cleaned the guy out. I wasn't for certain as they look very similar to the aftermarket clips though the difference in loading is rather extreme. Found some stuff for the SKS too. Don't want my Russian friends getting jealous of each other. LOL

So the Mosin received a scope mount, stripper clips, and 40 rounds of silver tip Hungarian milsurp(want to try it out since I have a source on the cheap). The SKS received 500 rounds of HP by Wolf(not the best but it shoots fine out of this rifle) and a Muzzle brake. Would like to get more stripper clips for the SKS but people are starting to realize that its easier to use the clips than the magazines. Because of this the sellers are starting to jack up the price on them. Law of Supply and Demand in action. Gotta love capitalism. :-D

Not really happy with the way the scope mount sits but at the price the guy was selling, well, hard to pass on. It will work for a red dot just fine if I go that route but I will need to pick up long relief scope if I decide to go that route. The P/U mounts are near impossible to find anymore. I don't like the Tapco mounts at all so those are out. Who knows: I may just manufacture something of my own.(and yes I am checking it out lol)


Back to the real world. Who's completely convinced that the stuffed shirt sporting "President of the United States" is an avowed Socialist bastard? I know that I am and that the disease of communism is starting to really infect a majority of congress and the senate.
Things do not bode well in our country at that rate.

Guess thats why I went and bought more ammo.

The New Addition.

Here is the 91/59 that I picked up when I replaced the M-44 a couple of weeks ago. She was quite a bit more beat up and dirty than showing here. After my last range trip I dissassembled her and completetly stripped the stock. I found this hiding under all of the cosmoline stains. I did use some peroxide to bleach the heavier stains out of the wood.


Today the stripper clips and ammo pouches showed up. Not sure about the stripper clips. They seem fine but are really tricky when loading the rifle. I believe that they are aftermarket so that may have something to do with it. As for the pouches, I am cutting a block of wood to several sections that will approximate the size of the clips. The leather on these pouches has shrank some. I will soak the leather in water and saddlesoap mixture then place the wood inside and allow them to dry some. That should bring them back to functional service(with the proper treatmensts of course).

One thing I really like about Milsurp stuff is its ruggedness. The pouches are of high quality saddle leather not some cheaper nylon garbage like we see in todays gear. Nylon is durable and light, hence why the troops are using it. There is just something about leather and wood and brass that says "I am made for the long haul, not just the show today" to me.
Maybe its the craftsman in me.

No thoughts on todays political scene(that I am willing to share openly) Too disgusted with things as they are and the Media is only adding fuel to the fire for me.
